RegistryFor.Us is a way for you to create and share gift lists without being tied to any one store. You can also share your general preferences (teams you like, things you collect, things you hate) as well as your clothing sizes. Using RegistryFor.Us with your friends and relatives will make gift buying easy and helps to avoid duplicates.

RegistryFor.Us requires that you have an existing Google Account to sign in or sign up. (if you don’t have an account you can get one for free at www.google.com )

The first time you visit RegistryFor.Us you will need to create an account. Click on the “Login/Register” link at the top of the main page. You will be taken to a “Log in” page. Click on the “Google” button.

Existing Users:
If you are an existing RegistryFor.Us user you will be asked to sign in to your Google account. You will then be taken to your home page.

New Users:
You will be asked to sign in to your Google Account. It will ask your permission to link your Google Account with RegistryFor.Us. Once you agree, it will take you to a screen where you can add your First and Last Name, as well as your Home Town. This information will be used so that you can share and find your friends and family within the RegistryFor.Us site.

This screen has four main options. (details on each will be found below)

  Your Lists: where you can create multiple lists and add items to the lists to share what you would like.
  Your Preferences: share your clothes sizes, favorite teams, things you collect, etc. to help a gift giver buy the right fitting and appropriate “off list” items for you
 Share: manage who you share your lists with
 Shop: view other users’ lists and preferences

You can return to your home screen any time by clicking on “Home” or the RegistryFor.Us title.

This page shows the lists you have created.

Create New List
To create a new list click on the “Create New List” link at the top right of the page. You will be able to enter a name for your list (Christmas List, Birthday List, Things for the House, etc) as well as a brief description.

List Settings or List Deletion
Once a list is created you are able to change the list name and description by clicking on the “List Settings” icon. You can also delete your list, if desired, but be careful - if you delete a list you will also delete all the items you may have added to that list.

View Items
To see what’s on a particular list, and to add items, click on the “View Items” icon. It will then take you to a screen where you can see what is on your list, and allow you to edit and delete these items.

Add An Item
To add an item, click on the “+ Add an item” link at the top right of the screen. It will allow you to enter an Item Name, Description, Quantity Desired, and any additional notes you wish to add.

Web Link: You can also paste in a web link to your item, to help anyone shopping for you to know EXACTLY what item you are talking about. If you choose to do this paste in the entire URL. (to do this, go to a web browser, browse to the page you would like to include, go to the address bar in the browser and right-click. It will allow you to choose “select all”. Then, right-click again and choose “copy”. You can then paste the copied URL into the “Link” box on the form.

Click “Create” and you will be taken back to the list, now with your item added.

Edit
You can make changes to your item by clicking on the “Edit” icon

Delete
You can delete your item by clicking on Delete

This is a place you can share your clothing sizes, favorite things, favorite teams, any collections you have, and things you hate (so shoppers can avoid them). You may also add additional notes to share.

If you haven’t yet set up your preferences a link will be provided to do so. After you have set it up once, you can make changes by clicking on the “Edit Preferences” link in the upper right of the screen.

Once you have a list set up it is time to share! Your lists and preferences are only visible to the users you select to share with. This page will show the people that you are currently sharing with.

To share a list:
Click on the “Add people” link in the upper right of the screen.

Searching for a user:
You will be taken to a page where you can search for a person by their last name. You only need to enter the first couple of letters, so if spelling is an issue no worries! Click “Search” to see users that match your search.

If you see the user you want to add click the radio button next to their name and then click the “Share Your List” button. You will be taken back to your sharing list with the person you added now on the list.

You will need to add people one at a time, so if there are multiple people you would like to add, repeat this process.

Inviting someone to become a user:
If you have searched for someone and they are not being found, you can invite them to sign up for RegistryFor.Us so they can not only see your lists but also share theirs with you. A link to invite them can be found below the user search box that says “Invite your friend”. You will be taken to a page where you can enter their email address. We will send them an email with a link to the site. Once they join you can go in and add them to your sharing list.

Stop Sharing
At any time if you wish to stop sharing with someone you may click the “stop sharing” icon next to their name. You can add them back at a later date, if you wish.

If a person has shared their lists and preferences with you they will show up on your “Shop for Others” page.

To view their lists:
Click on either their name or the “Lists” icon and you will be taken to a page to view their gift lists. From that screen you can click “View Items in List” to see the particular items.

Viewing Items
The items a person is wishing for are listed - You can click on the item name to go to the web link they provided. You can also see if the item is still available to purchase (says “available”) or if it has been reserved or purchased by someone else.

Changing Item Availability
If an item is already reserved or purchased by someone else you are not able to change the item availability. However, if it is still listed as available, you are able to click on “Change Item Availability” to indicate that you intend to buy it (Reserved) or that you did buy it (Purchased). By doing so, you let other users know that they should not also purchase that item. Please note: the person who you are buying for does NOT see this status, so it will still be a surprise! If you change your mind and decide not to buy the item after all, you can go back in and change the item status back to available, indicating to others that they could now purchase it.

To View their Preferences:
From the Shop page, you can click on the “Preferences” icon next to a user to view their preferences. You can then make sure that the shirt you are buying for them is the right size!
